Term 2 Celebrations and Events at MOSS
Rotary Fun Run
Congratulations Team MOSS!! Winner of the prize for most school participants in the Rotary Fun Run held at Seventeen Mile Rocks on Sunday the 27th of May. In its 14th year, this event has raised over $300,000 for charity. A special thank you to Rotary Club of Brisbane Centenary and Rotary Club of Brisbane Taylor Bridge for organising this worthwhile event.
Mother’s Day Celebrations
For Mother’s Day middle years invited mums for a morning of fun activities and morning tea. Students joined with their mothers to create lovely Mother’s Day cards, shared reading experiences, enjoyed a pamper session with nail painting and foot spa and took amazing fun photos in the photo booth. After all the activities mothers were treated to cake, biscuits and nibbles, tea and coffee.
Art at the Mount Ommaney Art West Gallery
Students at Mount Ommaney Special School have produced some wonderful and amazing pieces of art. Over the years student art has been showcased at the Mount Ommaney Centre, sold at auction at the P&C Baby & Kids Market and been on display throughout the school. We are privileged to have a wonderful piece now displayed at the Mount Ommaney Art West Gallery as part of their 9th Exhibition. The Art West Gallery opens to the public from Thursday to Sunday with local artists showcasing their work.
Perception Deception Exhibition
Students from the middle and junior/secondary years enjoyed the mind-boggling illusions of the ‘Perception Deception’ Exhibition held at the Brisbane Museum. Supporting the science curriculum, students participated in a range of exciting illusions and sensory activities followed by a visit to the sea life and Australian animal exhibition.
Special Schools Soccer Carnival
Students aged between 9 and 12 years had the opportunity to participate in the Special Schools Soccer Carnival. Students enjoyed playing alongside their peers in this 5-a-side indoor soccer event with MOSS students being awarded a trophy for being such great sports.
U8’s Week
MOSS celebrated U8’s week 2018 with some exciting and fun activities held in the ECDP. Students explored language and culture through dressing up, playing games, reading stories and participating in a variety of sensory art and play activities during the week.
