Sports Day has now become Sports Week since students are involved in bike and walking races in the lead up to sports day. In all races and activities students are encouraged to do as much as they can for themselves. Independence and effort earn bonus points. We like to have as many students as possible help with the opening of sports day. Robert raised the Australian flag with help from his mum Diana as the Jindalee State School band played the National Anthem. Then, as the band continued to play, our senior school leavers led the march past. Briana and Bridey made the opening speeches using pre-recorded messages. After they had thanked everyone TJ presented a certificate of appreciation to the band. Everyone cheered as Kayla told the Cross Country athletes to “GO” and they set off on the first race of the day. Our motto for sports day is “GO” and Kayla is able to vocalise and sign GO. During the rest of the day students participated in a variety of events appropriate to their skill level. Sarah used a lovely big voice to shout “Go” for many of the races. After lunch we all gathered together again for the relays which are run in 3 categories: Wheelchair, facilitated walkers, and independently mobile. Clairdee was given the special job of taking the sealed envelope with the final scores to our Principal, Ian. For the second year running the Green team won and their House Captain was presented with the trophy. It was lovely to have so many family members come to assist their students with activities. Thank you also to all parents and carers who took the time to dress their student in the appropriate team colours. A special mention to Reilly who was outstanding in her obstacle race. She stepped out with big strides and a beautiful smile for the cheering crowd. ![]() Until next year……. Nicky Champeaux P.E.Teacher
